Darwin, the science of evolution and creationism quarrel

Saturday, February 7, 2009, at the municipal library of the Seals, was organized the conference entitled Darwin, evolutionary science and creationism quarrel, by Guillaume Lecointre, professor at National Museum Natural History, researcher systematically and Priscilla Touraille, associate researcher at the CNRS, the Museum of Man and in the presence of Bruno Rougier, director of science at France Info.

For centuries, man has been considered the result of an act of divine creation. After observing the nature around the world, Darwin came to the conclusion that all living creatures from earlier as a mechanism of natural selection, including humans. Evolution does not just tell the story of life with its fossils become iconic movie hero, like dinosaurs and mammoths. This story takes us to what the novelist called Conan Doyle lost worlds, is not the product of the imagination to own tales or myths, but a fascinating chronicle constructed by science. To understand the history Life, City Seals will be of great scientists like Linnaeus, Buffon, Lamarck, Darwin, Huxley, Gould, with many others, have contributed to this story. With them, a reflection will be conducted on the great question: why is there always species that appear, others are diversifying in big lines and others who go out? All these species draw the immense tree of life which man is only a recent but very important part because now he has the power to destroy or to let others flourish. The various events will also examine the reasons for clashes and misunderstandings that results in the theory of evolution. If there had been no changes, we would not be here and if we do not understand what changes, what will the fate of future generations?
